Notes about auto-discovery of geodata by Stefan Keller:

Based on the source indicated below I strongly propose following three very light-weight and open standards in order to ease auto-discovery of geodata:

  1. Cross-links (i.e. Atom link relation types that provide semantics what this link means) in sitemaps.xml, KML, GeoRSS and HTML to help crawlers..
  2. OpenSearch-Geo interface for harvesters
  3. Geotag icon for humans
