Der Mapathon dient dazu, Gebäude und Strassen etc. zu kartieren in Krisengebieten, wie beispielsweise Naturkatastrophen oder Gegenden mit medizinischer Unterversorgung (vgl. dieser 10vor10-Bericht und die HOTOSM-Webseite). Wahlweise kann man auch eine Micro Mapping Party daraus machen und nach draussen gehen und Rapperswil noch detaillierter erfassen als es schon ist... Egal, ob drinnen oder draussen: Es ist ein lockerer Event zum Erfassen von OpenStreetMap-Daten mit anschliessendem Editieren im PC-Lab - und Schluss wird Speis & Trank geboten.

Der Event ist für alle offen - von 16 bis 99 Jahren - insbesondere auch für Einsteiger/innen. Es werden über ein Dutzend Teilnehmer erwartet. / [en] The Micro Mapping Party is a casual outdoor event for capturing OpenStreetMap data with subsequent editing in the PC lab, followed by food & drink. It is open to everyone - from 16 to 99 years - especially beginners. More than a dozen participants are expected.

 Wie sich vorbereiten? Mitnehmen: Laptop mit Ladegerät, ggf. Mobile Phone mit Power Bank, und dazu evtl. Grillsachen und Desserts.

[de] Der Event ist auf deutsch; fast alle Teilnehmer können jedoch auch Englisch. Der Event ist kostenlos - es können Grillsachen und Desserts mitgebracht werden. / [en] The event is mainly held german; but almost everbody here knows to speak english. The event has no fees, you can bring along BBQ stuff and sweets.

  • 14:15 : Instructions: Intro to Mapping (Presentations)
  • 14:45 : "Craftmapper"-Gruppen bilden
  • 15:00 - 17:00 Gruppe "Craftmapper": Mapping outdoor zu Fuss / EN: mapping outdoor by foot
  • 15:00 - 17:00 Gruppe "Couchmapper": Arbeiten am Laptop oder diskutieren / EN: working on laptop or discussing
  • 17:00 : Arbeiten am Laptop - Fortsetzung (alle / all)
  • 18:30 : Grillieren, Food & Drinks
  • ~21:00: Ende

Outdoor (Mapping) geht es um die gezielte Erfassung von Gebäudeadressen und -Höhen (Stockwerke). Es können auch Gebäude-Dachformen und Shop-Öffnungszeiten gemappt werden. / EN: This time we focus on building addresses and heights (building:levels). We can also map building roof shapes and opening hours of shops.

Indoor (Mapathon) geht es um "Targeted Editing" von Adressen (qa.poole.ch), Burgen & Schlösser (Burgen-Dossier) und Brunnen (water-fountains.org). / EN: Indoor (Mapathon) it's all about targeted editing of addresses (qa.poole.ch), Castles (Burgen-Dossier) and fountains (water-fountains.org).

What to prepare:

  1. Take along you laptop (if you have one, there will be free wifi); there are PC's available for those without own device.
  2. Charge your mobile phone (if you have one), else there will be GPS there and field papers and buddies.
  3. Take along power charger for laptop and/or phone (if you have one).
  4. You can also bring along some food if you want (actually there's enough there).
